Iluka Resources has entrusted JordProxa to deliver ten custom designed modular evaporation plants for its Eneabba Rare Earths Refinery in Western Australia. This facility is the first of its kind in Australia and among only a handful outside China.

The Eneabba refinery will produce separated rare earth oxides which are essential inputs in the manufacture of defence systems, robotics, electric and hybrid vehicles, smartphone screens, computers, flat-panel TVs, and batteries.

JordProxa’s evaporation plants play a vital role in the refinery’s solvent extraction process. Each of the evaporation plants operates independently, ensuring no cross-contamination within the refinery. By utilizing energy-efficient falling film evaporators powered by mechanical vapour recompression technology, the plants minimize energy consumption whilst gently heating the product to protect the sensitive rare earth solutions.

The modular design significantly reduces on-site construction risks, streamlines installation timelines, and enhances quality control by prefabricating components in a controlled off-site environment. This approach minimizes disruption at the refinery site and ensures a rapid deployment of these critical process plant systems.

With extensive expertise in designing robust, cost-effective evaporation and crystallisation systems, JordProxa optimizes capital efficiency whilst delivering long-term energy savings and operational reliability. Beyond project completion, JordProxa remains committed to supporting Iluka with ongoing operational assistance and continuous performance improvement, ensuring a partnership that extends throughout the refinery’s lifecycle.

This collaboration underscores JordProxa’s commitment to advancing sustainable and innovative solutions in critical minerals processing applications.
