JordProxa is supporting Anson Resources in the development of the downstream processing circuit for the Green River Lithium Project in Utah, USA. The programme includes laboratory test work, process validation and engineering to optimise the conversion of lithium chloride eluate into battery-grade lithium carbonate, supporting the downstream refinery design and providing important engineering data for Anson’s Definitive Feasibility Study.

The work includes non-thermal purification and concentration, thermal evaporation, carbonation, crystallisation, refining and associated Zero Liquid Discharge test work. Together, these activities are designed to improve lithium recovery, product quality, operability and overall project economics as the project progresses toward FID.

JordProxa’s engineering formed the basis of the downstream process incorporated into Anson’s recently completed Scoping Study and will continue through FEED engineering into the Definitive Feasibility Study.

JordProxa’s Role in the Green River Downstream Processing Strategy
JordProxa is supporting Anson Resources with the development and optimisation of an integrated downstream lithium carbonate refinery for the Green River Lithium Project. Since commencing work with Anson in June 2025, JordProxa has applied its lithium purification, evaporation and crystallisation expertise to validate the downstream flowsheet, support laboratory and pilot-scale test work, and advance the engineering from Scoping Study into FEED.

JordProxa’s proposed downstream circuit receives lithium chloride eluate from the DLE process and converts it into battery-grade lithium carbonate through a combination of advanced membrane separation, ion exchange and thermal processing technologies such as lithium chloride evaporation, carbonation, and refining to maximise lithium recovery while removing impurities that could otherwise affect product quality. The proposed process consists of three principal stages:

Stage 1 – Non-Thermal Purification
This process progressively concentrates the lithium chloride solution while removing hardness, multivalent ions and other impurities prior to thermal processing. This significantly reduces the energy required in the downstream evaporation circuit while improving overall process efficiency.

Stage 2 – Thermal Concentration and Conversion to Battery Grade Product
This process converts purified lithium chloride into high-purity battery-grade lithium carbonate suitable for commercial sale into the lithium-ion battery market.

Stage 3 – Environmental Management
Consistent with Anson’s objective of minimising environmental impacts, the refinery also incorporates a Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) crystallisation circuit designed to recover process water and minimise liquid waste streams. This approach supports efficient water management while reducing the overall environmental footprint of the operation.

This integrated programme provides the engineering basis for FEED and supports Anson’s progression toward DFS and Final Investment Decision.

JordProxa Managing Director, Paul Browne said:
“We are pleased to be supporting Anson Resources as it advances the Green River Lithium Project through engineering and into the next stage of project development. The laboratory programme is a valuable step in validating the effectiveness of the proposed downstream processing flowsheet to produce battery-grade lithium carbonate. The results will provide valuable engineering data for Front-End Engineering Design.”

“Green River combines high-quality lithium feed with an integrated downstream process designed to maximise product quality, operating efficiency and overall project economics. We look forward to continuing our work with Anson through completion of FEED and supporting the delivery of the Definitive Feasibility Study.”

Anson Resources Executive Chairman, Bruce Richardson, said:
“The successful completion of the non-thermal downstream test work and commencement of FEED engineering represent significant milestones in the development of the Green River Lithium Project. This work provides further confidence in our integrated process flowsheet and continues to de-risk one of the project’s most important processing stages.”

“Our strategy has always been to combine industry-leading Direct Lithium Extraction technology with proven downstream processing to produce battery-grade lithium carbonate in the United States. JordProxa has become an important engineering and technology partner, bringing internationally recognised expertise in lithium purification and crystallisation that complements our broader project development programme.”

“We are particularly pleased to be working with an Australian engineering company whose expertise has been recognised on globally significant lithium developments. Their involvement not only strengthens the technical execution of the project but also enhances our opportunities to access Australian Government critical minerals financing initiatives as we continue discussions with potential strategic funding partners.”
